How well do teachers incorporate SEL into their teaching? In this session we will share the findings of a study examining elementary, middle, and high school teacher perceptions of the degree to which their classroom instruction incorporates content in social and emotional skill development. Teacher responses are presented for demographic of content area and grade level. The five social and emotional competencies defined by CASEL include: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making. In this study, social and emotional skill development was measured by administering a self-assessment teacher survey on the extent to which they incorporate these competencies in their instruction.
